With A Merry Heart

I ♥ being creative, it's fun and makes me happy - but really I just like to make a mess!

I enjoy cultivating my green thumb, and ♥ to spend more time outdoors in my garden!

I have now discovered that I ♥ to sew! I enjoy recreating pretty patterns, so if you know of some great ideas, let me know!

Make your own pretty lace earrings! I made some for my friends customised with pearls and intricate lace shapes. Now I’m always on the lookout for some beautiful lace pieces for more pretty earrings! (As I wear them all the time)

Materials: Lace, Scissors, Glue & Water (or Starch), Hardware (hooks & rings), needle & thread, pliers, pearls

  1. Choose some lace with great potential - shapes and patterns. Cut around the shape you want for some earrings.
  2. Now we need to stiffen them, either soak them in starch (if you have some) otherwise a mixture of glue and water will also do the trick. Allow to dry overnight so they aren’t sticky and dry straight. (A good idea to do multiple earrings at a time)
  3. Choose your earring hardware - rings & hooks. If you have pliers and can attach them by joining them directly to the lace earring thats great! I didn’t so with needle and thread attached them that way.
  4. Customise your earrings! I sewed on some pretty pearls for that ‘old world’ vintage look.

For earrings that no one else will have, why not make your own! Embellish with pearls, beads or even dye the lace for vibrant colours! Though I must admit, sewing pearls is a bit tricky for me, would love to know any tips if anyone has any?
