With A Merry Heart

I ♥ being creative, it's fun and makes me happy - but really I just like to make a mess!

I enjoy cultivating my green thumb, and ♥ to spend more time outdoors in my garden!

I have now discovered that I ♥ to sew! I enjoy recreating pretty patterns, so if you know of some great ideas, let me know!

DIY Washi Tape Cupcake Flags - my very simple pictorial tutorial on how to make these fun, pretty flags!

So You Think You Can Washi?! DIY Cake Topper using Washi Tape! It’s quick and easy but most importantly fun to do and looks pretty on a yummy cake! All you need is: Wooden Skewers, Washi Tape, String, Scissors.

  1. Lay the skewers apart on the table then drape the string over the skewers (allowing enough string on either side of the skewers for knots).
  2. Tightly double-knot the string to the skewers so it doesn’t fall down/off.
  3. Lay a piece of Washi tape underneath the string (with the string passing over the ‘middle’)
  4. Neatly fold over the tape (this is a little tricky) to get the sides nice and even.
  5. Continue to apply tape at even spaces along string.
  6. For more flags and colour add more tape (different width) between the existing tape.
  7. Cut the tape at all the same length (this also gives the flags a straight end.
  8. Cut out little triangles from each bit of tape to get your Cake Topper Flags!
